Private Lessons

I teach private art lessons to students ages 10 through adult.  My instruction centers around the fundamentals of drawing and painting techniques while exploring the expressive variety of approaches and mediums within this framework. Students will be introduced to pencil, charcoal, chalks, oil paints, watercolor and mixed media collage techniques. Studies include drawing from life, nature and self portraiture as well as interpretive pieces based on memory, emotion, dreams etc.  I also incorporate the study of artist's work, art history and movements and provide outings to museum exhibitions and gallery shows.

Testimonials

  • “Lolly has changed the trajectory of my daughter's life. She is an unparalleled professional artist that brings kindness, compassion, inspiration and a wealth of knowledge from a lifetime of practice and a degree from one of the top art schools in the country. My daughter has flourished under Lolly's teaching, learning everything from collage, to water color, to oil painting and beyond. My daughter has fostered a life long passion for art as a result of her work with Lolly. There is no better art teacher in the world. Whatever school my daughter goes to and whatever course of study she pursues, she will never have a better teacher than Lolly.”

  • “Lolly Jamerson’s teaching of art is an act of love. Our daughter has been studying privately with Lolly for more than four years. During that time, she has made her way through high school, a journey for a deeply quiet and introspective young woman which was fraught with uncertainty about herself. The hours spent in Lolly’s haven of a studio were filled with opportunities for listening to varied kinds of music as well as learning about varied kinds of artists. The lessons embodied the best kind of teaching where the teacher is respectful of each student and allows for silent reflection as well as laughter. Our daughter has grown in self-awareness as a person as much as she has made tremendous strides in her artistic expression. Lolly gives her students a solid grounding in art history and techniques. She also encourages the flowering of each student’s unique imagination and potential. Anyone who studies with Lolly is truly fortunate to discover such a nurturing and inspiring teacher.”
